Neurology at SPH

Neurology at St. Paul's consists of a consultation service and not and admitting service. We tend to see quite interesting cases, especially related to HIV / opportunistic infections and their neurologic sequelae given the lower socioeconomic status of the patient population in this area.

Educational Rounds

There are a number of educational rounds that occur each week during non-summer months.

  • Tuesday 8 - 9AM: Neuroradiology Rounds (Radiology Conference Room, 2nd floor in the back of the Radiology Department)
  • Wednesday 8 - 10AM: Neuroscience Grand Rounds (Paetzold Auditorium, Jim Pattison 1st floor, at Vancouver General Hospital)
  • Thursday 8AM - 12PM: Neurology Academic Half Day
    • 8 - 9AM is a case presentation, which everyone tends to attend
    • 9 - 12PM are didactic lectures.
    • Check with your senior resident about coming to this, depending on how busy it is!

NOTE: Some of these rounds are cancelled during the summer, so check with the residents.

Documentation

St. Paul's has now switched to Cerner, so all documentation (consults, progress notes, results, allied health documentation, etc.) is now available through there. You may either type up notes or use the voice-to-text option. Please ensure all consults are completed within 48h of seeing the patient, and all progress notes should be done on the day you saw the patient.
