Resident Life
Life as a resident can be exciting and rewarding, but understandably, it can be demanding and challenging at times. Having a great group of residents is essential. One of the strongest features of our program is our incredibly supportive, diverse group of residents, who look out for each other and foster an atmosphere of collegiality. A couple important annual resident social events throughout the year include our Welcome BBQ and Ugly Sweater Christmas party.
Our program is also located in one of North America’s most beautiful and scenic cities: Vancouver! Surrounded by the Pacific Ocean and North Shore mountains, Vancouver offers endless outdoor activities, from year-round running, hiking up Grouse Mountain, ocean kayaking or sailing in English Bay. Not only is Whistler Blackcomb ski resort a short drive away, but there are many other mountains for skiing and snowshoeing. Within the city, there are many neighbourhoods to explore. You can stroll through Granville Island market, be one with the hipsters along Commercial Drive, or join a beachside yoga class at Kitsilano beach.
As residents, we try to take advantage of our surroundings as much as possible. Whether it’s hiking in Squamish, cycling the seawall, having a picnic at Kitsilano Beach, finding all the great sushi restaurants, going out for swing dancing, exploring microbreweries and food trucks, we can guarantee that you will find an aspect of the city to enjoy!
And not to be forgotten is our annual Neurology Ski Weekend Retreat at Whistler, which usually makes for memorable stories! You can ski, snowshoe, explore Whistler village, relax in a hot tub, or book a spa day. Zero skiing expertise is needed to have fun.
